Purple Kush is the result of the crossbreeding between the legendary Hindu Kush strain x the indica hybrid Purple Afghani strain.

This cannabis strain has the unique characteristic of being attractive and strongly flavored without compromising genetic stability. Unlike other strains that are crossbred explicitly for flavor, this strain has ancestors that adhere strictly to the origin of cannabis species in Asia. It has a delicate, earthy aroma with sugary hints of typical Kush varieties, which comes with an ecstatic, abiding euphoria that mentally covers you while being physically relaxed, eventually helping you overcome stress, relieve pains, and deal with sleeplessness.

Strength

This dank bud is a 100% pure Indica strain, named by the High Times magazine in 2016 as part of the Top 10 Kush Strain, with a high THC content between 17-27% on average. Compared to other hybrids that begin with a complicated cerebral high that slowly calms users down, users describe this strain high as having an instant uplifting euphoric head high, leaving you absolutely painless and slightly introspective. It is followed by a warming numbing body high that starts in the head and spreads across the entire body and leaves you fully relaxed and sedated, eventually easing you into body relaxation — a deep and powerful pain-free sleep that lasts hours on end.

Purple Kush can also be an ideal strain for medication as it can reduce some symptoms of anxiety and depression due to these powerful sedative effects. This strain can also be remarkably efficacious in various types of pain relief— whether acute, such as pain following an intense workout, some nerve-related pain induced by fibromyalgia or cancer, and for help in treating chronic pain, nerve damage, and muscle spasms. This strain is also a great way to help overcome insomnia when taken large enough doses. Keep in mind that Purple Kush strain is potent and is said to last 2-3 hours on average.

Yield

Growers can expect a reasonable yield of about 37 grams (or 1.3 ounces) per square footage of plants under ideal conditions.

Speed

Purple Kush is suited to grow in both indoor and outdoor setups and will be ready for harvest indoors following an 8-week flowering cycle, or outdoors in the Northern Hemisphere by late September, and in the Southern Hemisphere in March.

The cultivar grows low and bushy and flourishes into tightly packed buds that are filled with trichomes, as a purely indica plant might expect. Those who want to grow Purple Kush plants may thrive both indoors or outside, but growers report that their plants flourish a lot better indoors. Indoor cultivation makes it easier to monitor and regulate the proper conditions as well.

Many plants can surely fit in a vertically restricted grow area since Purple Kush crops seldom exceed a height of up to 3 feet. To bring out its trademark purple hues for its maximum visual potential, growers may also want to shock the plants and expose them to cold temperatures to activate the anthocyanins; however, growers should be sure to do this only shortly before harvesting so as not to reduce overall yield of the plant.

Taste

Purple Kush strain is known for its remarkable taste, which is similar to Afghani strains, and closer inspection shows rich and fruity notes of grapes. Just like its scent, Purple Kush tastes like a deep fruity musk that comes with a bit of sweetness at times — a perfect mix of the standard purple flavor and popular Afghani/Pakistani Kush varieties.

When combusted, the flowers simultaneously have a fruity and hash-like smell and smoke that can sting the sinuses and cause extreme coughing.
